PVD & Pre-drilling for the Elevation of a Highway in Germany

Close to Leipzig, Germany, CeTeau is working for a Germany client by installing vertical drains around gravel piles. The combination of gravel pile a vertical drainage creates a rock-solid foundation for the elevation of a highway route (the gravel piles are drilled into the pleistocene sand). However, the top 4-meter base layer consists of hard clay with boulders. Therefore, we have to pre-drill with our drilling rig until wereach the soft and wet clay layer below the loam layer, which allows the vertical drainage machine to install the drains without any problems up until a depth of 17 meters below ground level. Both machines use a GPS system.
