EPC Contract for Biogas project well under way

  • As part of the current expansion of Thai Roong Ruang Energy Co. in Saraburi, CeTeau is presently converting an existing liquid sugarcane waste pond into a covered lagoon digester to produce Biogas for power generation.

CeTeau is undertaking the contract as an EPC contractor. The works include the design and installation of a wide range of activities including lining, civil and mechanical works. Specialist subcontractors are used where necessary and a consultant is ensuring the design and quality meet the requirements.

At the time of writing the modification of the existing pond is completed and HDPE piping are installed in and around the pond. The construction of the mixing chamber and pump room are well underway. The 2mm thick HDPE sheet of 15,000 m2 (the size of about two football fields) to cover the digester is being prepared at the side of the pond.

When the pond is covered, the anaerobic bacteria in the sugarcane waste water will start creating Biogas already by itself while the remainder of the services including pumps, flare tower and scrubber are installed. The digester is expected to start producing Biogas for the gas generator by November 2015. CeTeau will monitor and operate the system for 3 months before handing over to the Client.
